Technology transforms in years. Skills evolve in decades. This gap – the Experience Gap – is one of Finland's most critical challenges, threatening our competitiveness and future prosperity. We are already seeing a growing divide between employers' high experience demands and workers' inability to gain that experience without those initial jobs. Done right the capability to learn could be our competitive edge as a nation.
"Better is Possible" is a new societal impact platform by Deloitte Finland and Demos Helsinki that addresses Finland's ecological, social, technological, and economic transformations.
This seminar marks the FIRST event in a comprehensive program combining expertise, experience, and action to build a shared vision for Finland's future.
Keynote speeches will be delivered by Joonas Tuhkuri, Assistant Professor at Stockholm University, and Timo Seppälä, University Lecturer at Aalto University. Following this, several business leaders will share their visions on the topic. The seminar will be moderated by Katri Makkonen, a communications profession-al and former journalist.
During the seminar, we will also present findings and recommendations based on our work.
Key Findings We'll Explore
• Finland's systems no longer move at society's pace
• Finland has skills but lacks connections to leverage them effectively
• Education is strong, but skills renewal is weak
• Employers are stepping up, but lack adequate support structures
• People are the missing link – weak bridges between learning and work
